ICON-Land / TERRA: Linda Schlemmer
Description#
Land component of ICON with alternative process implementation (JSBACH v4.3 and QUINCY).
JSBACH (Jena Scheme for Biosphere-Atmosphere Coupling in Hamburg) simulates biogeophysical exchange processes between land and atmosphere, as well as carbon cycling for different vegetation functional types, accounting for both anthropogenic land use changes and natural vegetation dynamics.
QUINCY additionally simulates terrestrial N+P cycling and dynamic effects on biogeophysical parameters through the impact on e.g. LAI. Couplings to disturbance dynamics (fire, wind) and permafrost are under development.
Model(s)#
JSBACH v4.3: integral part of ICON , BSD-3-licensing in progress (planned Sept. 2023)
QUINCY v1.9: available as part of ICON-Land, status pending
TERRA: soil model which provides surface temperature and specific humidity at the ground
